Thai Basil (Ocimum thyrsiflora) is an aromatic plant used mainly in Asian cuisine. The plant can reach a height of 40 to 50cm.

This basil has large green leaves streaked with purple veins. This variety of basil is mainly used for curries, stir-fries and soups. Fresh, it goes nicely with salads and spring rolls.

Basil-Thai has a slight aniseed taste. It is used in hot cooked dishes, with a strong aroma, excellent for fish. Basil-Thai would also have medicinal properties (against indigestion, appetite stimulant).
