Organic edible marigold | Alsagarden seeds

Marigold is an annual herbaceous plant, with yellow-orange flowers, whose flowering begins in the first days of spring and can last almost all year round.

The marigold is a tinctorial plant, of domestic use. It provides a creamy yellow color, obtained by a decoction of its flowers. Marigold also provides a source of non-toxic food coloring, especially used to darken butters.

The flowers have the particularity of closing at night and reopening as soon as the sun is high enough in the sky. This is also what earned it its name of concern, which has nothing to do with our daily worries but comes from the Latin solsequia (= which follows the sun). Without this having been scientifically validated, dried flowers are used in traditional medicine. In infusion, marigold is anti-inflammatory, hypotensive, spasmolytic, immunostimulant and cholesterol-lowering. In external use (mother tincture), it is an excellent anti-inflammatory (skin and mucous membranes, intimate or not), anti-edematous and antivenom. It is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and healing.
